Clubhouse hanging dates 2026:

February 9
April 13
June 8
August 10 (week of Judged Member Show)
October 12
December 14

Rules:

1. Areas currently designated for display of CAL artwork are the long wall along Carolina rooms 1 and 2 and the downstairs wall across from the library. Efforts will be made to display each artist’s work with an eye to fairness and equity in the showcasing of work in the upstairs and downstairs display areas. Only art that can be hung on walls can be displayed at a clubhouse exhibition.

2. The Gallery Committee is solely authorized to hang or otherwise arrange the artworks
for display.

3. Artists should deliver their framed works ready to hang with attached wires* at the
designated date, time and location indicated in the exhibition announcement. Artists
are responsible for filling out a gallery tag* for each piece of their art that is displayed
that indicates their name, title of the artwork, identification of art medium, and price (or
NFS) of the piece.

* Works to be hung should be provided with braided wire designed for the purpose and
of sufficient strength to support the work, arranged so that the apex of the wire will be
approximately two inches below the top of the work. Strand wire, plastic fish line, or
string should not be used. A good rule of thumb is to place the screw eyes to which the
wire is attached about one-quarter of the way from the top of the work. Placing them
lower may cause the work to tilt forward. The wire should be tightly wound around
itself no more than two inches on each side, with no sharp loose ends protruding which
could injure the Gallery Committee members hanging the work. Tape may be wound
around the wire ends for this purpose, but should not be wound around the middle
(hang point) of the wire.

* An identification card showing the artist’s name, name of artwork, medium, and price
(or NFS) must be completed in full by the artist and attached to the lower right-hand
side of the painting with tape provided. A log book with the same information must also
be filled out by the artist. It is in no way the responsibility of the Gallery Committee to
insure accuracy of information.

4. Displays will ordinarily hang for two months, with adjustments made for the annual judged show and for the end-of-year patching and repainting of the clubhouse walls.

5. If an artist sells or removes artwork before the close of the exhibition, (s)he should
notify the Gallery Committee chairperson and replace the artwork that is removed with
a similarly sized piece. Paintings that receive awards during the All-Member Judged Art
Show must hang for the duration of the exhibition month even if those paintings are
sold prior to the close of the exhibition.

6. At the close of the exhibition, all artwork must be picked up by the artist or artist’s
designee at the designated date, time and location. There is no storage available for
artwork left at the clubhouse following the close of an exhibition, and CAL is not
responsible for any artwork that is not retrieved by the artist as instructed.

7. CAL does not insure artwork displayed within Connestee Falls, although individual
artists may choose to do so.
